Knight & Carver and HF Interior Offers 'Refresh, not Refit' Program

Helios Interior NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA - Knight & Carver YachtCenter, an award-winning megayacht repair and refit firm, has teamed with HF Interior to encourage yacht owners to consider a short-term "Refresh" program rather than a more extensive and expensive refit.

Called "Refresh, Not Refit," the program is offered by Knight & Carver as part of a new teaming agreement with HF Interior, a world-renowned Swedish interior renovation firm that specializes in cruise ships and megayachts.
 In 2008, Knight & Carver worked together with HF Interior on a complex and elaborate refit of the 194-foot megayacht Helios. The six-month project, described by Helios' captain as "floating beach house, totally chic, edgy and contemporary," was awarded "Best Refit 2009" by Showboats International magazine, one of the yachting industry's most prestigious honors. Since its completion, Helios, has experienced a 30 percent increase in its worldwide charter bookings.
"Charter availability is absolutely vital to our large-yacht clients," said Kate Pearson, Knight & Carver's director of Busines development. "Now we can offer a compressed 'refresh' schedule of three months or less. During that time, we'll add luxury refinements, upgrades and enhancements as well as necessary repairs without the vessel having to spend up to six months or more out of charter."
The concept of "Refresh, Not Refit" drew praise from San Diego-based yacht charter broker Liz Howard, Fraser Yachts Worldwide who pointed out: "If a yacht has any hint of worn-out fabrics, a dull paint job, tarnished fixtures or an unpleasant or lived-in odor, my clients will be disappointed. They expect the highest standards of excellent and luxury at all times, for every charter."
"Investing in a refresh of interior general areas, such as the main salon, or cabins, gives the charter superyacht an opportunity to stand apart from the rest" says Curt Biller, managing director of HF Interior, an interior refurbishment specialist.
The program has the added value of allowing the yacht's owner, captain and crew the opportunity to spend time relaxing in San Diego, which offers a year-round mild climate and the world-class amenities of the Southern California lifestyle.
